No Pay: Various Crew

Science Fiction based Grad Film (£5k budget). Shooting at the end of September, approx. 27th September. 3 Days studio, 2 days on location. We are looking for the following crew members to join the team!

CINEMATOGRAPHER
PRODUCTION DESIGNER
COSTUME DESIGNER
MAKE-UP ARTIST
VISUAL EFFECTS SUPERVISOR
PRODUCTION SOUND MIXER
STUNT COORDINATOR

CINEMATOGRAPHER - Director/Exec. Producer is a semi-profesional DoP, and is looking to collaborate with someone who is highly experienced, ideally a DoP with a commercials and music video background that is looking for an opportunity to shoot a narrative film that is slick and completely professional. You will be using the director's REDone camera, and will either be shooting on LOMO Anamorphics and Nikon SLR Primes, or Zeiss Ultra Primes, Cookes etc.. He is willing to contribute a sizeable portion of the budget to glass. Full lighting gear and studio is available through the school which he is using this film to complete an Advanced Directing Course with, as well as potentially interest investors to help expand the concept into a feature. The director is looking for a DOP that is unpretentious, realistic and someone that loves nothing but producing visually stunning images, and someone who wants to make a short film that isn't about pregnant teenagers, low income misery, refugees or cute 'life' moments, but something that is genuinely cool, thought provoking and entertaining. Sci-Fi Thriller/Action/Drama.

PRODUCTION DESIGNER - We are looking for someone that is seeking the opportunity to display their production skills in a grad film that has a good budget, and will be visually arresting. The bulk of the film takes place in an abandoned basement, and is an interrogation scene that is far from the ordinary. Director is from a music video background and has a very strong eye for visuals, and complete attention to detail to design elements, and is looking for someone with similar sensibilities to collaborate with in making what we are hoping is going to be the slickest grad film in the UK this year, fingers crossed! :-)

COSTUME DESIGNER - Film is set 20 years in the future, the lead Actress wears an elegant red dress throughout, something that feels familiar but has touches of design yet to come. The Actors will be wearing suits and regular everyday clothing but again they will ideally incorporate little flourishes to indicate the future setting. This is a great opportunity for a Costume Designer looking to do something a bit different, and to have their work professionally shot on a 35mm format by people that have absolute attention to detail and a love for beautiful images. All materials will be covered. Professional stills will also be taken.

MAKE-UP ARTIST - We are looking for someone that has worked on 35mm or RED, and understands how to be subtle yet bold with their make up design, we don't want the typical student film look, we intend to produce something with hollywood standards (but at a fraction of the cost lol). Film will be a great showcase opportunity, it will involve a stunning female lead, a man under pressure, blood, sweat, and a very unusual stabbing, as well as some action not typically seen in grad films.

VISUAL EFFECTS SUPERVISOR - We are looking for someone to collaborate with a director who has an excellent understanding of special effects, and is looking to do as many effects as possible in-camera, and to enhance real world elements with CGI to help put the viewer into the futuristic setting. You will be working with someone who is completely realistic, down to earth, knowledgable and has a massive love for special effects. This is a great chance for someone looking to show off their photo-realistic CGI skills and practical effects (sword stabbing, gun shots, squibs, gadgets), and do a science fiction short that is thought provoking, realistic and entertaining.

PRODUCTION SOUND MIXER - Director is very technically minded and is looking for someone who has complete and utter dedication to recording sound. Film is a mix of studio and outdoor action. Sound Recording equipment will be provided.

STUNT CORDINATOR - We are looking for a dedicated and down to earth coordinator to help us visualise the action elements of our sci-fi/thriller short, which include a slow sword stabbing, brief gunfire, armed and unarmed combat. Film will be professionally shot, and hopefully something pretty unique for what is considered to be a short film. We are also hoping for a stunt coordinator that could potentially double up and play the role of 'Delta', a bodyguard type character.

-- SYNOPSIS--

Year 2028. A British Indian man, 'Anand' awakes tied to a chair in an abandoned basement, he is faced with a stunningly beautiful woman of middle eastern descent who keeps calling him 'Jaypen', what follows is an interrogation / intervention that is far from ordinary. The film climaxes with an exciting 3rd act where Jaypen discovers his purpose and identity.

A mix of 'A.I.' and 'The Bourne Identity', that we hope to expand into a feature. Approx. £5k budget.

Script can be viewed at http://www.jaypen.com/code20.pdf

-- THE TEAM --

Trishul Thejasvi (Director) and Yonathan Gal (Producer) have been making award-winning International Music Videos with reggae artists including Steel Pulse, Junior Reid, Beenie Man, Maxi Priest and Jimmy Cliff, their speciality is the ability to produce high production values on low budgets with minimal crews. Louis Ackerman (Co-Writer) recently graduated BA Screenwriting with a 1st from Bournemouth University. The team are close friends with a unified passion of producing films that people actually want to watch.

Trishul Thejasvi is personally funding the film in collaboration with Central Film School and Driftwood Pictures. He is a highly technical director, knowledgable and experienced in all fields of film-making, he endeavours to make visually arresting films with strong performances and unique characters. His last short recently won 'Best Cinematography' at the Landcrab Film Festival. Unlike other shorts that promise to shoot on RED, we will definitely be shooting on RED as the director has personally invested in one to absolutely guarantee his vision.

Pay: Art Director

We are looking for an Art Director to complete our team for a short horror - 616 - to be shot at the end of September. The film will be 6 minutes long, a mixture of live action and animation, and is set in one location - the sitting room of a large converted flat.

The main focus of the job will be dealing with the dressing for the location on the day of the shoot, although some prep work will be required. The film does involve some special effects work involving severed heads, severed limbs, blood and guts. We do have a team working on this, but this may also be of added interest to anyone with experience or wanting to gain experience in this area.

616 is a short horror film which takes place over the course of a few hours one summer evening as Tom and Anya get ready to go to a birthday party.

The party is fancy dress, with a movie stars theme, and the couple have both made a fantastic effort. However, as events take an unexpected, and very bloody, turn, it seems the party will have to go on without them…

616 is grounded firmly in the B movie gore-fest genre of horror, with a simple, yet entirely original concept which will both surprise and shock audiences. It is a mixed media production combining live action and animation. The animation is primarily rotoscoping with additional work to supply the special effects elements which are integral to the story.

The film will be premiered at festivals in 2011 as well as providing the basis for a future feature film.

No Pay: Location Manager

Waiting For A Stranger is an ambitious short film that boasts a challenging script for all involved. Visually, this film will be a unique experience, using noir techniques to enhance the film's atmosphere, creating a mysterious and seductive world. Coupled with classic shading and striking colours, this attractive blend of old and new will add an original and beautiful element to this story.

The locations for this film are challenging and unique, especially for a short film. Taking place in 1955, mainly in an English Mansion House and an authentic French Cafe, this project demands a location manager who knows about the little cafes around the city, and has knowledge of large houses outside of town. Along with a Piano practice room, and a suitable cafe exterior, this job will utilize your skills and we look forward to having an experienced and excited manager onboard.

Elements already attached include an NFTS graduate Cinematographer, Goldcrest Final Mix, and Ascent Final Grading. The shoot will take place over two weekends in October, and will be mostly interiors, aside from one exterior day. We are sorry not to be able to offer payment (Expenses Only), which is why we have crafted a story with characters that are complex and challenging, as well as a creative look to match. We hope you find this as intriguing as we do, and we look forwarding to meeting you.

Summary:
Anne stares out the window during her son's daily piano lesson, lost in her thoughts, when suddenly a chilling scream echoes from the cafe below. Drawn to the scene, Anne discovers a wounded woman bleeding to death, embraced in her husband's arms. Upon revisiting the cafe, Anne comes across a mysterious stranger, whom she soon suspects to be the killer. This chance encounter reawakens in her a passion she once thought was lost, and over the course of the next three days, Anne must decide whether to return to her son, or pursue this dangerous and exciting new path.

If you are unable to work for expenses, please consider contacting our production and perhaps sharing some locations with us, as we would be greatly appreciative.

Sincerely,
Jacob

No Pay: Sound Recordist

I'm shooting a short film in October, for which I have a killer script co-written with award winning filmmaker Van Poynton.

Flesh/Blood is a thriller about three brothers breaking into the home of a lonely widower to commit a simple burglary, only to find that nothing about it proves simple, especially when one of the brothers develops a guilty conscience.

What I need now is a brilliant and dedicated sound recordist. The sort of person dead set on getting all of the dialogue recorded on set. Someone with a passion for sound.

However, please note, that because this is a low budget, self funded short, it's absolutely imperative that the successful candidate either own their own sound equipment, or be able to obtain kit cheaply.

The position is for expenses only, but someone particularly adept at being able to help us in regards to free or heavily discounted kit could expect a small fee.

Upon completion Flesh/Blood will be released to festivals.

Pay: Acquisitions Assistant / Scout

This is a unique opportunity to be trained up to eventually become a leading location scout in London and a key figure within London's leading film and TV location library. We work on a daily basis to source locations for every leading feature film and TV show in addition to all high end TV commercials and music promos. A selection of clients in August alone includes Sherlock Holmes II, X-Men: First Class, Johnny English II, W.E. (dir. Madonna), London Fashion Week and Misfits

The role:
We are on the look-out for an extremely bright and engaging individual who holds the key skills and characteristics to one day become one of London's best Location Scouts. You will also be a key member of a three person Acquisitions department.

You will find yourself out of the office more than in it either trying to scout London's next big location or actually photographing it for launching live on our website. To secure the position you will be a resourceful and thorough researcher using both online and 'on the road' skills.

Back in the office you will always have to manage an enormous pile of potential locations sent in by owners to assess, grade and prioritise. You will never get to the bottom but will be expected to quickly identify the properties that hold value for what we do and ensure they are contacted and published online first.

Your prospects:
If you are interested in being a location scout for high profile productions then this position is your dream ticket. The previous Acquisitions Assistant has left to work on one of the leading feature films in production in London right now.

There are also a variety of options to move within the company, all of which can be discussed in detail at a later stage.

It is essential that you are:
- A keen and avid fan of property and architecture
- Interested in photography
- At home working in the office as well as out on the road
- Thorough with a methodical approach to what you do
- Resourceful with an ability to think on your feet
- A team player with a shining personality
- Interested in working within locations and specifically keen to be a location scout.
- Very capable of working with Microsoft office and other computer packages

It is desirable that you are:
- Someone with a good geographical knowledge of London

Low Pay: Art Director

Looking for an experienced Art Director for an independent feature film to be shot in October. We already have many of the props so there wouldn't be too much sourcing to do, but we would like someone to start work soon, to ensure that everything is ready for the shoot. The interesting challenge about this is that the film must not look like it is set in the present day, but any time from the 20's through to 80's/early 90's, but it's never specified, so you can have a bit of fun with that!

Synopsis:

'Redirecting a wrongly posted letter leads a man into the fantasist world of a deranged narcissist trying to clone Princess Diana and the people trying to stop her. Caught between his desire for good, and his desire for the mysterious scientist, he finds himself getting dragged further and further into the unresolvable dreams of others.'

This is a low budget film, funded entirely by the director, but we are able to offer a set fee of £1,100 + expenses for your work. We have assembled a really talented crew and it should be a very unique project to work on.

We are looking for a team player, someone with lots of creativity and the ability to source props cheaply. A driving license and vehicle is preferable.

We look forward to hearing from you.

No Pay: Cinematographer

I'm shooting a short film in October, for which I have a killer script co-written with award winning filmmaker Van Poynton.

Flesh/Blood is a thriller about three brothers breaking into the home of a lonely widower to commit a simple burglary, only to find that nothing about it proves simple, especially when one of the brothers develops a guilty conscience.

What I need now is a DP who shares my dark vision and unbounded enthusiasm for telling great stories. This job might suit a brilliant up and comer, a student for example, or it might suit someone more experienced, e.g. the kind of DP who shoots ads and promos most of the time but who yearns to work on longer, or actual, narratives.

However, please note, that because this is a low budget, self funded short, it's absolutely imperative that the successful candidate either own their own kit (i.e. at least a camera), or be able to obtain kit cheaply.

This withstanding my aim is for the film to have a high-spec finish to it, I want it to be dark, and I want the camera to occasionally rove/creep around the house.

The position is for expenses only, but someone particularly adept at being able to help us in regards to the above could expect a small fee.

No Pay: Camera Crew for Low Budget Feature

I am looking for a number of camera crew to join me for the upcoming nano-budget feature "City Stars", part of the Big Challenge 2010.

City Stars is a gripping film, made by young people for young people. Cliche? OK. Fine. Here's the skinny:

I need:

An OPERATOR
A FIRST ASSISTANT CAMERA (FOCUS PULLER)
A SECOND ASSISTANT CAMERA (LOADER)
and maybe a TRAINEE

for a month-long shoot from October 7th until November 7th. Shooting won't be the whole of this time, it's going to be approximately 21 days during this period - with breaks at sensible junctures.

I realise people might not be able to do the whole time, but if you can do a week or more, please let me know anyway.

I am looking for people with some experience of professional cameras (we will be using the Sony F900). I don't mind if you're looking to step-up, but I need confident people that won't require training on the job.

Please do not mail me if you are a director looking to see how the camera crew works. Join the crew as a runner if this is the case!

As this is a low budget film, we will only be able to consider applicants either in London, or nearby.

Thankyou for your applications!

No Pay: Director needed for exciting new short film

Hi,

I am looking for a Director for a short film. I am an actor and also direct myself via my own company. For this particular project I would like to sit out directing and focus on acting in the project and so I am seeking a Director for this reason.

Unfortunately this project is unpaid. I completely understand how this can be frustrating as I prefer to be paid myself, however hopefully the exposure of these type of projects will lead to paid work for each of us, whether individually or collaboratively as a team.

Please include your phone number in your submission and details of your general availability, as well as info on your particular directing style and what you have to offer. I will be happy to forward you on a script, for you to see if it is for you.

Crew Needed FOR Project Called "Joanna Vassa."

FOR Those WHO Would Like TO Know A Little About THE Protagonist Here IS A Summary.

Joanna Vassa (1795-1857) was the only surviving descendant of author and leading anti-slavery campaigner, Olaudah Equiano, who is also known as "Gustavus Vassa, the African".

Joanna's early life was tragic. In 1796, only a year after her birth, her English mother, Susannah Cullen of Fordham, Cambridgeshire, died, and was buried at St Andrew's Church, Soham. In the following year, her famous West African father Equiano died in London (31 March 1797, aged 52), and this was shortly followed by the death of her elder sister and only sibling Anna Maria (b.1793), on 21 July.

In 1816, on reaching her 21st birthday, Joanna Vassa, being Equiano's only known surviving relative, inherited a silver watch and £950 from his former estate; a figure that would perhaps be worth a hundred times that value today.

She married the Congregational minister, the Rev. Henry Bromley, whose first position was at Appledore in Devon, where he worked for five years.

For many years Joanna Vassa (Bromley) lived near the Congregational Chapel at Clavering in Essex, England, where her husband, the Rev. Henry Bromley was pastor between 1827 and 1845.

Joanna and her husband moved to London in 1845, for her health, her husband taking on only occasional commitments at Clavering thereafter; the chapel relying on students from Cheshunt College until a permanent appointment could be made. In about 1870, the Clavering Congregational Chapel needed extensive repair and a new one was built on its site, opening in August 1872 with dedicating prayers by Rev. Henry Bromley and other invited ministers.

Joanna died on 10 March 1857 aged 61. She was buried on 16 March close to the memorial statue to Isaac Watts in Dr. Watts' Walk, the principal axial walk of Abney Park Cemetery. Her husband Henry survived her for twenty years, and was buried with her on 12 February 1878. It has not been discovered whether Joanna had any children. Her memorial at Abney Park was re-pinned and re-erected in 2006, in time for the 150th anniversary of her death in 2007 which coincided with the bicentenary of the first legislation of the British Parliament that began to outlaw the West African and transatlantic slave trade into which her father had once been sold, and about which he wrote an account together his later life and travels; a book that had great political influence, and literary merit.

'Top Coppers' is a short format comedy series following the exploits of two hard edged, cool, ginger cops, John Mahogany and Mick Rust, as they shoot and punch crime with their guns and fists.

They may also use blunt objects from time to time or just run things over with their car.
